Google's "More" dropdown or the "Search Tools" not working in Internet Explorer 10

Sometime over the last few weeks Google's "More" drop-down and its "Search Tools" menu items have quit working.  The other buttons that let you select web, images, shopping, etc. still work properly.

The "More" and "Search Tools" buttons get focus when the mouse is over them and they animate when clicked but nothing happens.  I have Google Chrome installed and they work properly on that browser.

I've googled it but most of the posts found are about a not-quite-the-same problem of the buttons just working momentarily.  At any rate, I tried the fix [clearing casche and cookies] that some of the said worked but it didn't make any difference.

I've disabled all of the ad-ons and the problem is still there.  I re-enabled each add-on one at a time and tried it but none of them had any effect.

I've disable my Norton Security Suite and the problem still exists.

I've reset IE and, other than losing all of my passwords, it too made no difference.

Does anyone have the solution for this, or at least and idea of what the problem is?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Howard

Helo,

I run the IE 10 install (IE10-Windows6.1-x86-en-us.exe), and the program stops about half way and says i need to install prerequisites. I clicked on the updates on this pagehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/2770065 and all of them say they don't apply to my system and nothing gets installed.  I am trying to install on a Windows 7 SP 1 desktop PC. Can you offer any help?

Thanks

IE9 connectivity not working with the 32 bit browser.

The 64 bit IE9 browser works but the 32 bit browser on the same machine doesnt.  Anyone have any ideas?  I have verified DNS via DOS and can ping by name in DOS but my IE 9 32 bit browser cannot browse the internet or connect to windows update server.  The 64 bit browser can browse the internet and connect to the windows update server.  I have verified that no proxy setting are enabled (both in "internet Options" and in the registry.  I believe it has to have something to do with a registry setting being wrong somehow.  The reason I think this is because the 64bit browser is in a different path on the hard drive.  Internet Explorer 9 64 bit is installed at "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer" whereas the 32 bit version is installed at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer"  this is the only thing left I dont know how to troubleshoot.  Is there a setting of how the two browsers point to the internet in the registry?

At this point any ideas are welcome as I have searched fourms for months now and am about ready to just reinstall windows but I have never encountered a computer issue I couldnt fix until now and truthfully this one has me baffeled.

Thanks for your time and effort in helping me try to resolve this issue,

James

FYI - I forgot to mention I have restart and entered into the Safe Mode with networking and I have the same problem.  64 bit browser works 32 bit doesnt.

Hello,

I would like to disable the "Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?" message that IE 8 presents to users (who invariably hit "Yes") using Group Policy.  Is there a GPO setting for this?  Thank you.

But when I tried to perform the same action in compatible mode, the page doesn't refreshes. Let me know the work around for IE 8 !!! I want the webpage to stand still. Appreciate your help at the earliest.

Through mishap or mischief, the "reset" button in the Advanced tab of Tools/InternetOtions is grayed out. Is this controlled by a registry key, by group policy, or by both? How is it likely turned off so I can turn it back on? -- Thanks, mtcstle

how to I go back to internet explorer 9 from internet explorer 10

Greetings, I recently installed internet explorer 10 from the Microsoft website and installed it and ever since I have performed this I am having nothing but problems with it. I am running a 64-bit machine and I did download the 64-bit version and installation and other downloads performed correctly. Every single time I go to a web page and error message keeps appearing on the page indicating "script error do you wish to continue running this script on this page". I went to the help community regarding this and I was informed to always click on the "No option" , and it will stop. That is not true. When I was using internet explorer 9, I never encountered this problem ever. Ever since I have downloaded internet explorer 10 64-bit version it has caused nothing but problems, and since I am on the road all the time, it is costing me time with this error, rather then me spending time on my clients and customers.

While I am here, I recently was forced to go from my hotmail account in which I use all the time for business reasons. Now, it is Outlook, and it is simply the worst, slowest, poorest designed software that Microsoft has ever released into production. All it does is hang, takes forever to compose a mail, and multiple issues as well. I reached out again to the Microsoft communityand someone had posted a line of code to insert into your web browser after you login to outlook and then you paste this line into the web browser line and execute,  and it will return you tohotmail. This is not true at all and does not work as I tried it multiple time. Also, someone had posted to click on the gearand at the bottom there is a button to go back to hotmail. That would be good if I had that button available to me. I appreciate your professional time and assistance on this.

Enable ActiveX Settings from aspx page

Hi All,

I have an aspx page where i have added some javascript that makes use of ActiveX controls to export some data to excel.

The site is added to trusted sites but the browser setting "Initialize and script activeX controls not marked as safe for scripting" is disabled for this zone by the GPO settings. So even if this is enabled manually, it gets reset eveytime the machine is restarted.

I have a vbscript that enables this setting when run manually.

Is it possible for me to add this script in the page and enable the setting whenever this page loads?

I know this defeats the purpose of the setting, but i just want to know if this is possible somehow. Please let me know.

Add sites to Internet Explorer Trusted sites lists

Hello all,

I'm trying to add a site programmatically to IE trusted sites list. Now the problem is that the Trusted sites settings have a checked optionREQUIRE SERVER VERIFICATION as shown in the file attached. If that option isn't checked then there's no problem in adding the sites. I have done it already. So can I override that checked option through programming. I am using C# for development.

I had this problem with IE8 and IE9 and hoped that installing IE10 would resolve this issue that I have had since purchasing Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Everything I have tried has failed to resolve this issue. The same issue is present in 32 bit. Is this a known issue? Is there a solution to this problem or do I have to use a competitor Browser?

I mistakenly installed google chrome (thinking i was getting google earth) and then uninstalled it. It corrupted IE8 so that i cannot use windows explorer to view our ftp site. (which means that i cannot use our site). Google chrome also corrupted windows outlook but i used a Microsoft fix to cure that.

When i am at our ftp site and i go to "page" and then go to "Open ftp site in windows explorer" i get the error message "This site cannot be opened in windows explorer" I'm using IE8.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

I have a web page with links pointing to movies on
a Windows share:  file:////SERVER/movies/movie.mkv
Clicking on such a link starts playing the movie in vlc.
Starting with IE10 it works only if the movie is smaller
than 4 GB. If the filesize exceeds 4 GB, IE10 tells me
"This page cannot be displayed". How can I fix this ?

JavaScript not running in IE10 on Windows 8

$

Hi,

I have spent hours scouring the Internet for a solution and I have tried just about everything to get this working, but no luck...

First, my specs:

  • Running in a Dell Inspiron notebook with 64bit Windows 8 Pro (Version 62. [Build 9200])
  • IE 10.0.9200.16466 (Update version 10.0.1)
  • My OS is up-to-date with all patches

My problem:

Sometime, in the last month or so it seems that IE10 stopped running any JavaScript. I didn't notice this sooner as I use Firefox and that is still working fine. I first found that my Skype stopped working - it gave me a blank login screen and some searching on the net indicated a possible IE issue. I checked IE by going to a web site that uses JavaScript and found that it too wasn't working. I then also noticed (and this is the one killing me) that when I needed to re-register my development license for Windows 8 development that it too doesn't work - it gets to the prompt indicating that I need to re-register, I click on "I Agree" and it pops up with a blank dialog box (just plain white background and nothing else).

I have tried resetting the security settings on IE, ensuring that the option to run JavaScript was ticked on. I also tried re-registering the javscript dlls and some others. I tried compatibility settings but nothing seems to fix it.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, I am at wits end here, please.... ;-(

Thanks in advance

Take this link for example which doesn't show Photosphere in 360 degrees.
