I asked this question on answers.microsoft.com and was directed to post it here for further assistance. Nothing that has been suggested has worked so I'm hopeful I can be led towards resolution here.
When trying to access certain pages, for example live.com, the page tries to load, then says "A problem displaying live.com caused Internet Explorer to refresh the webpage using Compatibility View". From there the page hangs and IE9 stops responding. After trying to access again, the page loads blank. When pressing the tab key, I see the web addresses the links point to in the bottom left, but nothing displays on the page.
1) Helvetica font is not installed.
2) I have the latest drivers from my graphics card.
3) I checked the box under Internet Options > Advanced. The setting is Accelerated graphics, and the option I checked is Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering.
4) I have reset IE settings.
5) I have used F12 to bring up developer tools and pages work under IE8 modes, but not under IE9 modes. This step has been helpful but is a bother to do every time I need to visit a page.
6) I have tried to open in no add-ons mode with no success.
Any help would be appreciated. I have done extensive searching and can't find anything definitive on a resolution.
