Hey folks,
I am finally caving in and asking for help with an issue I have been experiencing for about a month now. I work in IT and have always been able to figure problems out, but this one is just plain stumping me.
One day I came to work, logged in, and went online to check out a few sites and when I went to pull a tab off my current IE window to drag to my second screen, it wouldn't detach. I was using IE9 32bit and had been for quite some time. This happens in both 32 & 64 bit versions. First thing I did was checked to see what I had installed or changed, but couldn't find the culprit. I then went into internet options and disabled all my add-ons. No luck. Even went as far as resetting IE. Again no luck. Looked through the tab related settings, not seeing anything that would effect my problem. I did try to disable tabbed browsing and turn it back on, but again, no luck.
A few other things to note, I am unable to take two IE windows and merge them like before. I have also upgraded to Windows 8 recently to become familiar with it for future IT support, and IE 10 is behaving the same way. I experience no other issues with internet explorer, just with detaching and merging tabs.
Now I could just reinstall windows, sure, but the geek in me wants to figure this out if possible. I'm thinking it's a registry setting, a shared file or maybe a setting I completely overlooked that may be the culprit, I just don't know. Has anyone heard of, or experienced such a thing, or have any guesses as to what the issue might be?
