I'm attempting to do branded custom changes to IE8 in 32 bit Windows 7 thru Group Policy using the IEAK 8 kit. Stepping through the customization wizard, I choose "Windows Vista or Vista SP1 or Server 2008 (x86 based", then Configuration file only (IE is already installed), I choose Browser User Interface, Search Engines, and Important URL's and Home page with a simple change to each. Sync the PC version with the Web version. Uncheck the first run wizard (already done) leave the "Use Internet Explorer Welcome Page" checked and next to build the files. (I done see anything about "Silent Install or Force Restart" as some mention in other post). It builds a small 600k .msi file under BrndOnly folder. I create a GPO under Computer Config\Policies\Software Settings and assign the package with the other default settings. Do a gpupdate /force and then on reboot it seems to install the package but there are no changes (rebooted) to IE8 on the client. Gpresult shows the GPO applied and a query with GP results in Group Policy Management shows it applied the package. I've tried both 32 bit and 64 bit client/package combos. Domain Controller is Win2K8 standard. Does anyone have any ideas?
BTW: I have successfully deployed other .msi packages using group policy.
Thanks
Mark
