I am trying to upgrade a windows 7 x64 home edition premium from IE8 to IE9. The problem occurs when the machine reboots. When it trys to link in on the internet to finish the installation at Microsoft. I keep get a Google 404 message, a picture of a broken robot saying that the URL cannot be found on the server, and that's all we know. (is this a bogus message and is IE8 compromised by malware??) and the installation of IE9 goes no further.
The machine is protected and regularly scanned by Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security 2012. All recent Microsoft updates are installed.
I would like to install IE9 because it offers better security than 8. Would be grateful for any ideas of how to tackle this install problem.
Thank you.
