I use AT&T Uverse DSL. The advertised download speed is 1.5-3.0 mbps. In real life, when I download anything from sourcess such as Microsoft, AT&T, I get download speeds of 350-370 Kbps maximum.
I use Win7 Ultimate x64. I use IE8, I think. I have a fast CPU. I have abundant RAM. I have plenty of space on my hard drive.
When I run speed test on the internet the result are always good: 2.5mbps+ AT&T says if the test says 2.5mbps, then I am getting the advertised download speed. It seems to me that, in real life, I am getting about 10-15% of the "guaranteed" 1.5-3.0mbps. Since I have been watching this- about 6 months- I have never seen an actual download speed greater than 370 kbps.
It seems to me that I am not getting the service I pay for. AT&T says I am because the speed test says so. Is this a typical result for DSL or might I get an actual 1.5 mbps with another DSL provider?
Are the internet speed test results purely artificial, having nothing to do with real life downloads?
