Hi,
I'm hoping the solution for this is just a setting that I haven't found but here goes. We are testing Windows 7 Pro with IE8 in preparation for a general rollout to replace our older Windows XP Pro computers. We have found a couple of annoying issues that I hope someone here can help me resolve.
1.) I've setup the Google search provider and made it the default. When we type something in the search box in the upper right hand corner and hit enter, it opens the main Google search page but that's it. To actually search you need to re-enter your search term on this page. Effectively typing it twice. With Windows XP and IE8 when you type your search term and hit enter it would search and display the results. Any ideas what would be causing this and how to correct it?
2.) I haven't been able to confirm this second complaint on another computer due to time constraints, but one of my users likes to leave IE open to one of our local news channel's web site. When she's working IE will often fall behind other open applications, which is fine. The problem is that the web site will auto-refresh and when it does it pops up in front of everything else, disrupting the user's causing a distraction and disrupting the user's workflow. Other than telling the user not to leave IE open when not in use, is there any way to change this behavior so that IE will refresh without jumping to the forefront?
Thanks in advance,
Linn
