ie8: forcing a site in the internet zone

Hi,

I am desperately trying, on a customer's site, to force ie8 NOT to enter compatibility view mode when entering my site.

I've tried EVERY meta tag hack but with no success. To my understanding what happens is that ie8 identify my app site as a INTRANET site

and so forces compatibility view.

The trick I am used to use (tell the customer to use an ip address instead of a local machine name) here, for some reasons, doesn't work.

This customer don't want to change the compatibility view settings on her users pc, since it is needed for other applications.

So  I am following this idea: what if I add the ip address of my app to the internet zone ? but is it possible ? I see that there is an INTRANET sites list, not a internet one. And, given that this is possible, would it be possible to do that in a centralized way ? And finally, would it be breaking other apps ?

Lot of questions i know

thank you very much for any help

bye

Nicola
