I am running Server 2008 R2.
I needed to test a site in IE8 so I uninstalled IE9 via Programs and Features | View installed updates | Internet Explorer 9 | Uninstall
I expected IE8 to be available after a reboot but it seems Internet Explorer is now completely gone. I tried going into 'Turn Windows Features on or off' but I get the error ' MMC will not run with a version of Internet Explorer earlier than Internet Explorer 5.5' So I tried to do it via a command prompt via the following command:
dism /online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:Internet-Explorer-Optional-amd64
That feature did not exist so I ran a dism /online /get-features and did not see anything related to IE.
The error in my IE9 install logs is as follows:
00:05.538: INFO: Launched package installation: C:\Windows\system32\dism.exe /online /add-package /packagepath:C:\Windows\TEMP\IE95050.tmp\IE9-neutral.Downloaded\Windows6.1-KB982861-x64.cab /quiet /norestart

00:10.531: ERROR: Neutral MSU installation failed (exit code = 0x00003715 (14101)).
Any Ideas?
