Windows 7 64 Bit Service Pack 1
Intel Core2 Duo CPU T7300 @2.00 GHz
4.0GB RAM
I did a clean install of Windows 7 64 Bit about 2 months ago. I have very few programs installed. I keep startup items to a bare minimum (almost none). Use Vipre Anti-Virus and Firewall. No programs running in the background beyond anti-virus. CPU utilization is low with plenty of RAM.
Internet Explorer runs extremely slow. After clicking on the icon, it can take 15 to 20 seconds for the MSN home page to appear. Video and flash player objects are very choppy (audio seems to be fine). I keep cache and history cleared out. Upgraded from IE8 to IE9 (made the problem worse). Have tried running with no add-ons with no change in performance. Also reset IE to default settings. Web pages load slow.
Internet connection is Cable at highest speeds 20MB+. Other laptop (old cheapy HP) is smokin on the Internet compared to my Dell. I have the latest drivers installed for my network card and I have tried older versions to rule that out as well. Bottom line is I can not find any thing to indicate something other than a Windows or IE issue. HELP!!!
