Internet Shortcuts open in Word

I have a windows 7 (32bit) computer that will not open certain internet shortcuts via Internet Explorer. For example, .aspx will always open in word. I have tried deleting the shortcuts and re-creating but to no avail. Url shortcuts appear to be working fine, just .aspx that don't work.  I am running Internet explorer 9.
