IE9 issues

I installed IE9 manually via microsoft.com (NOT windows update). Yet windows update is asking me to install IE9. IE9 does not show up in the windows update history of installed update etc. (which mean I can not uninstall IE9).

When I attemp to install IE9 via windows update I receive an error code of "WindowsUpdate_00009C48" "WindowsUpdate_dt000".  I have tried the "Fix It" found on this link;  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Troubleshoot-problems-with-installing-updates it did not work.

I have disabled the firewall, it did not help. I have disabled the antivirus, it did not help. This is a clean restored system, so I do not want to do a system restore. Is there any other way to fix this please?

Hi!

We have a cloud application that has a feature to launch an outlook application on our client's machine. However, they have to trust the website first and change the security level from medium to low before it will successfully launch the outlook. Will this post any security threat on our client's machine?

Thanks and Regards,

IE9 has stopped working

If Internet Explorer 9 isn't running, hitting F1 in Visual Studio 2010 launches it and immediately results in "Internet Explorer has stopped working". If IE9 is already running, hitting F1 opens a new tab and shows the help page. Same happens when hitting F5 to debug a web application. Has anyone else experienced this issue> If so, how did you fix it?

IE9 open in new window/tab does not load

Running Internet Explorer v9.0.8112.16421 on Windows 7 Pro x64 with SP1.

When the browser is asked to open a page in a new window or tab, the new blank window or tab appears, but nothing loads. There is a spinning circle in the address bar and along side the mouse cursor, but nothing more happens.

This behavior is observed whether you click on a link using target="_blank" or right click on a link and select open in new window. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled IE9. I have also experimented with the IE tabbed browsing settings including disabling tabbed browsing.

IE9 menu Bar malfunction

My IE9 windows are becoming confused, and I find that 2 menu bars are displayed, but only the lower bar works. There is a gap between the two bars, and in that gap you can see other menus (eg on the Google page it shows their menu for Web, Images ...). The problem is that you cannot get to the top of the "page" as it lies up underneath the confused set of menu bars (see image).

Uninstalled IE9 to test with IE8. No IE8 and cannot get IE9 to reinstall

I am running Server 2008 R2.

I needed to test a site in IE8 so I uninstalled IE9 via Programs and Features | View installed updates | Internet Explorer 9 | Uninstall

I expected IE8 to be available after a reboot but it seems Internet Explorer is now completely gone.  I tried going into 'Turn Windows Features on or off' but I get the error ' MMC will not run with a version of Internet Explorer earlier than Internet Explorer 5.5'  So I tried to do it via a command prompt via the following command:

dism /online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:Internet-Explorer-Optional-amd64

That feature did not exist so I ran a dism /online /get-features and did not see anything related to IE.

The error in my IE9 install logs is as follows:

00:05.538: INFO:    Launched package installation: C:\Windows\system32\dism.exe /online /add-package /packagepath:C:\Windows\TEMP\IE95050.tmp\IE9-neutral.Downloaded\Windows6.1-KB982861-x64.cab /quiet /norestart

Any Ideas?

Can not download windows explorer 9?! me

When I attempt to download explorer 9 for windows7/64. It immeadiately tells me that I have a more up to date

brower than explorer 9. Then I'm completely thrown out.

HOW can that be? Please before you answer this question. "THIS SOCIAL.TECHNET" SCREEN is the 1st time I've

actually saw the "Compatiibility View Icon" above. This view is perhaps what I need to download IE9. I do hope so.

If not I'll be back, wanting to know why do a person just can not download as usual?

Webpages

Hello Everyone!

I'm hopiong that someone can help me with this ongoing problem that has been happening for about a month now. All of a sudden, my webpages only display in half screen. My yahoo home page is fine, but it's when I go to click on hyperlinks, that my webpages display in half screen. I have tried dragging the corners and not using the maximize button, it obviously didn't work. However, if I open a new tab and type in a website or click on a link there is no issue. I hope someone can really help me with this and I'm not real computer savvy and this is extremely frustrating. My systems is windows 7 ultimate and I'm using IE 8.

thank you all in advance for your time.

Adobe Flash Player in Win8/IE10 reinstall

$

Hi - My IE10 (both desktop & metro versions) was giving me problems playing flash content so I followed the instructions on the adobe site to uninstall flash manually which included deleting all the files in the /system32/moacromed/flash, syswow and other subdirectories, etc (via this link http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html#main_Download_the_Adobe_Flash_Player_uninstaller) then tried to reinstall flash though I am still getting an error (on YouTube for example) that I need to install flash.

I think I may have accidentally ended up deleting the special version of flash that comes installed with IE10.

Does anybody know how to reinstall IE10 and/or Adobe Flash or "refresh" the installation of IE10 to reinstall flash?

I would really hate to need to do an entire system refresh to get flash capability back as I have otherwise no problems with Win8 and all my installed programs.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

ActiveX Install Service - Does it require UAC?

Does the ActiveX installer service require UAC to be turned on?

I would like to approve a number of websites that ActiveX can automatically be installed on.

There is another post here that doesn't really mention UAC at all.

BUG: Installer of Internet Explorer 9 breaks Active Setup, if first user logging on has no admin rights

$

Hello,

I just stumbled across an issue when deploying the Internet Explorer 9 on Microsoft Windows 7 SP1, like many others before me. See here for example:

http://www.butsch.ch/post/Internet-Explorer-9-Setup-Breaks-Active-Setup-of-further-MSI-Packages.aspx

The Internet Explorer 9 setup creates the REG_SZ "NoIE4StubProcessing" with the value "Y" under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components. This blocks all Active Setup components from being executed, when a user logs on. This seems to be part of the preparation for the reboot during the IE 9 setup and is supposed to be reversed afterwards.

To re-enable the Active Setup processing, the IE 9 installer places a command in the RunOnce-Key under HKLM. This command is also labeled "NoIE4StubProcessing" and contains the following command line:

reg.exe DELETE "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\NoIE4StubProcessing" /f

In theory, this command will be executed as soon as the first user logs back on, remove the registry entry blocking the Active Setup process and thus enable it again.

However, this only works, if the first user has local admin priviledges on the machine. If an unpriviledged user logs on, the command is still executed and the entry under "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce" is removed, but the "NoIE4StubProcessing" entry under "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components" remains - resulting in a permantely disabled Active Setup on the machine.

I am not sure, that this is a bug of the IE 9 installer or the way the commands under  "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce" are executed. Nevertheless, a fix for the problem would be great instead of shitty workarounds, that may break other things.

Due to other means of contacting the developers / program managers in charge, could some moderator pass the issue along? - Please!

If someone can't come up with a simple solution soon, I will just change to Chrome, which seems to print fine!

I installed the software/drivers for Officejet 6700. It stated that I had to upgrade my browser to: Chrome, Safari or IE9. I was using IE8. I moved and won't have access to the 6700 for a couple weeks, but thought it best to get my computer set up for it. I am using the HP Photosmart 4580 wireless printer. I can print fine from Chrome, (which I downloaded due to this problem), and Safari. I removed IE9, and printing was again, no problem. I have spent at least 10 hours on this problem, researching websites etc., including Microsoft websites and forums. (One would think that Microsoft would have a DEFINITE ANSWER to this problem instead of sending users to look over numerous topics and only get SUGGESTIONS.) Getting more irate about Microsoft's lack of concern for finding fixes for the average user!!! Can anyone help me with a definite solution on this forum?

Thanks in advance, kcwbird

Whenever I try to paste using the right-click mouse into the Internet Explorer search box I can't. I have to go click on the edit box. How can I use my mouse to copy and paste?
