IE9 freezes at startup with heavy disk activity

Win7 SP1 using IE9 v9.0.8112.16421. Also have Norton 2013 Internet Security and Anti-Virus with current subscription. On first use of IE9 after boot or coming out of sleep, often see IE9 freeze with heavy disk activity. Cannot start any other process. Cursor sometimes freezes. When disk activity eases, often after more than one minute of activity, everything is "normal". Norton finds nothing. If I run Task Manager, which must be done before starting IE9, Task Manager shows CPU time absorbed by IExplore.exe. What is IE9 doing?

Javascripts does not execute until ABOUT:BLANK is added to Trusted Sites security zone.

Hi,

I am using ASP.NET and MVC3 for developing a website. I am trying to dynamically pull HTML from the web server and add the HTML to existing DOM elements on a already loaded page. However, after I add the dynamic content, the javascripts addressing the dynamic content does not work. (Example: The dynamic content has a dropdown. The event handler javascripts for the dropdown do not get executed).

However, when I add "about:blank" to the Trusted Sites security zone, I do not face this problem.

I observed this problem in IE9 (not sure if this happens in IE7 or 8). Other browsers (Firefox, Chrome) do not give me such issues.

I am not sure what is going wrong in IE9. Any pointers towards resolving this?

Regards,

Ronith

Hi,

Do you know if there is any information about the release of IE 11? Although IE10 was a big step forward for HTML5 support, IE10 is still lacking support for many features.

Many Thanks,

Strange IE Behavior Post Fresh Windows Install

Someone I do IT support for was having issues with Internet Explorer after a fresh Windows 7 64 bit Enterprise installation. Upon investigating, it seems that IE9 will not load web pages for prolonged periods of time, and will hang on the white screen until then. It also is generally buggy when trying to move around the browser.

Thinking that this must be because of the internet connection, I tried other browsers-- all of which acted correctly and gave me the speeds I expected (around 300ish Mbps download). I then tried running IE9 as admin and everything worked perfectly and how I would expect IE to work. Now, I'm not sure why it would be like this because I'm technically an admin already. I tried reverting back to IE8 and even IE7 and both gave me the exact same symptoms. I couldn't find any information about this exact issue outside of people having network issues, but this is not one of those. If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it!

IE 8 security settings keep resetting

We use JDE in our company and we need to set security settings for active x and download settings for it to function properly. For some reason every time we need to utilize a function that in turn needs a security function to be set properly we need to reset the settings back to allow this. For example to open a pdf from JDE you need to enable automatic prompting for file downloads. Once i save the setting it works but everyday i have to rest these settings. How do i get them to not change back and reset themselves? I want to set the settings and have them stay that way.

When I open Internet Explorer, a message comes up:  "a program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider setting for Internet Explorer".  Then it is followed by options on picking my primary search provider.  I tried to choose my options, but it does not accept and I am totally annoyed with having to close the two windows each and every time I open Internet Exployer.  I have Microsoft security, but it wormed into my computer anyhow.  How do I get rid of this?

"Do you want AutoComplete to remember web form entries" - how to disable with Group Policy

My customer wants IE9 to behave totally unpromted, so that user could use their machines fast, without any interuptions and notifications.

I´ve already managed to hide "do you want to remember password" - type of notifications already with group policy, but still this "Do you want AutoComplete to remember web form entries?" is bugging me. How can i ged rid of this? I updated the AD with IE9 admx and adml by installing IE9 on a server with GPMC.

The site where this appears, is located and recognized as intranet. Intranet zone is set to low profile and all "promt" options are changed to enable or disable. These settings are also set:

Disable AutoComplete for forms = Enabled

Turn off the auto-complete feature for web addresses = Enabled

Turn on the auto-complete feature for user names and passwords on forms = Disabled

ieframe.dll regsvr32 error 80004001

$

I just restored an HP G60 laptop with Vista Home Premium 32-bit from its factory restore partition, installed all MS updates, and am once again getting the 'unable to load webpage' error in IE9 related to ieframe.dll.  Ieframe.dll will still not register using regsvr32 in a cmd prompt as administrator.  This error is why I did a complete factory restore since I thought the laptop had been hit with malware, which no longer looks like the case.

My customer no longer wants this troubleshot and has agreed to just use Firefox and avoid IE9.  I could take the laptop back to IE8, but don't want to do that since MS update will keep offering IE9 anyway.

Even when running IE9 with no add-ons it still gets the ieframe error when it tries to reload the page (google.com set as homepage):  res://ieframe.dll/acr_error.htm#google.com,http://www.google.com/

After doing the initial Vista restore and installing IE9 and Vista SP2, but before completing ALL MS updates, IE9 worked ok.  Then today, after all MS updates loaded, IE9 started again with the ieframe errors and ieframe.dll won't register and gives:  'regsvr32':  The module "ieframe.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with 0x80004001.

Since the customer won't tolerate any more troubleshooting on it, there's no way to try other fixes.  I'm just reporting it in the hopes that someone else will chime in or MS will pick up on it and find a fix.  I tried the troubleshooting found in the other forum post regarging this same problem, but it either didn't apply or didn't work.

Very frustrating...

IE8 Slow for users using protected mode?

$

Hi,

I am in the process of upgrading our users from Windows XP, IE8 to Windows 7 w/IE8 and we've noticed performance issues with IE8 on the Windows 7 systems.  It appears like the culprit is Protected Mode.  By default it is turned on for IE8 on Windows 7 systems but not on Windows XP systems so we never saw this issue with XP.

I have been able to mitigate the issue with web sites of business partners by adding them to the Trusted Sites list.  But this isn't practical for every site we go to and I really don't want to just turn Protected Mode off for all sites.  Is there another way to address this issue?

What happens is it will take many minutes, 5 or more, to load a web page with Protected Mode turned on.  Turn off Protected Mode and the pages load in seconds.

Is this a known issue with Protected Mode or is there something else I should be looking at?

Thanks in advance,

Linn

Can't log on - 'Web browser is sending a WWW-Authenticate header field...'

An end users logs onto our company website from his home, and has had no trouble in the past. Unfortunately, he had a some 'security' company remote into his computer and 'check security settings' for him. Until then, he was able to log in.

Now, when he goes to the login page, he gets this message:

You are not authorized to view this page You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied because your Web browser is sending a WWW-Authenticate header field that the Web server is not configured to accept.

I haven't made an onsite visit yet, and the end users is not tech-savvy. Any ideas as to what to look for in his browser? I tried to talk him through changing Security settings, but it didn't help.

He uses Windows 7 and IE8.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I have one user running IE8 on Windows XP Pro sp3 and her page iswww.bing.com.  Yesterday she reported that Bing isn't working for her and the problem continues today.  Looks like all it is, is pictures aren't loading.  She does get the search box and controls and can search.

Internet 10 downloaded and installed via update on windows 7 64 bit system.

As mentioned above, IE 10 installed via update on my windows 7 64 bit service pack 1 hp computer.

I tried to uninstall the update using the advanced uninstall feature and it will not uninstall.

I tried Fixit, System Mechanic and some tricks I knew.

I still have ie 9 also, and it won't open either.

IE 10 is known to cause some problems on 7 systems.

I just want to get rid of the damn thing and go back to using ie9.

I would just use Firefox or chrome and IE, as I have found, does work better with some applications.

Is there anything I can do without completely taking my computer back to default?
