vista pre-release IE9 and following updates

Each time I try and start IE on HomePro Vista I get a message that I should update to IE9 from the pre-release.  When I try I get the error 802400B.

System Update Readiness tool returns  CBS MUM Missing 0x000000002 servicing\Packages\Microsoft-Windows-Powershell-ISE-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~7.0.6002.18181.mum

NVIDIA GEForce 6150SE nForce 430 update fails (but I have nVidia mgr on my desktop and it tells me I don't need any updates).  McAfee not installed and removal tool already run.

I have looked in installed programs and updates and IE is not visible to uninstall.  sfc /scannow comes up clean.  Microsoft Fixit Center comes up with no problems.

Running through dozens of forums and trying whatever I can think of.  Next step other than repair-install or reinstall?
