I've got a web app (ASP.NET MVC 4) where I use client caching. Client caching works on FF and Chrome but IE9 always gets the content from the server. What's more it used to work!
Why IE9 do not honor cache headers now?

I lost all of my Favorites. All of my stored links, both under the Favorites Tab and on my Favorites Bar vanished overnight. I checked my "Favorites Folder" (C:\users\username\Favorites) and it is still there, and so are all of my websites. Now, before coming here, I tried the "Restore Default Location" thing, I also tried the "Restore Previous Version" thing, and I even tried the "Reset IE" thing. Obviously nothing worked or I wouldn't be here.
As I said, this happened overnight. One day everything was just fine and, when I booted up the next day, not only were my Favorites missing, but my Desktop Icons were all translucent, and all of my Desktop Gadgets were gone and the Gadget Window will not open so that I can even try to restore them.
Right away I performed an online search and found that the "Translucent Icon" thing and found that a virus could be the culprit (at least for that part). So, I ran a full Virus Scan (which I also perform regularly every week, in addition to running Real-Time Scanning all of the time). It found 0 Viruses, 4 Trojans, 0 Rootkits, 0 Tracking Cookies, and 0 Potentially Unwanted Programs.
The desktop Icons had all been switched to “Hidden” so I was able to fix them by selecting all and unclicking “Hidden”, so that much was easy. However, I have not found any way to fix my Favorites or Gadgets problem. Someone Please help!
Is there any way of setting IE settings for all users. for example, everything under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\2
Simply Changing HKCU to HKLM doen't seem to help.
I would rather not do this with GPO. i would like to be able to script this or use a reg import. it would also need to apply to users that have already logged onto the computer and to new users as well.
Yeah Buddy!
Hello everyone .I’m the admin of a school with 4000+ users and about 1000 computers. I set everyone's home page via Internet Explorer Maintenance\URLs\Important URLs GPO but for some reason the home page setting doesn't get applied until the second time a user logs on, this is a problem because all those students can logon to anyone of the 1000+ computers in my environment. This means that about 8 out of 10 logins will be first timers with no profile on the system. I also tried to set the home page @ login by adding this to their login script<o:p></o:p>
REG ADD "HKCU\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\INTERNET EXPLORER\MAIN" /V "START PAGE" /D "myhomepage.com/" /F<o:p></o:p>
But still the first time a user logs on they get whatever home page that is defined in the image, I know the GPO is applying because the same GPO maps their shares which work @ first logon with no issues. This problem defeats the purpose of having a site wide home page. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.<o:p></o:p>
oh we're on server 2008 R2 for the dc's and win7SP1 , IE 9 , all systems are up to date
Thank you.<o:p></o:p>
I tried to run SFC /SCANNOW to resolve an issue where internet exploder kept having to reload on HTTPS pages (same pages work fine in chrome and firefox). It identified the following issues:
Checksur.log contentsThese files do in fact appear in %windir%\winsxs\manifests\ - however it still indicates an error that they are "unavailable". I have looked on a few other windows 7 systems and they don't appear at all on those systems, though they
exist on the stystem with the errors. Can anyone point me in the correct direction for a fix. The fact that these errors have to do with capi2-certs and i'm having problems in secure sites on IE makes me very suspicious that this is causing my
problems.
Info: windows 7 pro, all service packs and updates applied
Fully patched and up to date windows update DOES run and DOES NOT indicate any updates are required
IE 9, fully patched - problems occur in "safe mode" so plugins not the issue
Let me know if you need any other info

Hi Folks,
I have a problem with IE9 interfering with, of all thing, Windows Fax and Scan. I'm told there is a hot-fix which solves this problem. Where can I find the list of hot-fixes with the description of what they fix?
Thanks for the help,

Hi All
I am applying Internet Explorer proxy/port and proxy bypass list in my domain environment through group policies on my windows 7 machines. I've added Windows 8 machines in my domain. But the old policies for proxy settings are not getting applied on these machines. Can somebody tell me the easiest way to to apply these settings on my windows 8 machines. I am having my domain with Windows 2003 functional levels but with Windows 2008 R2 domain controllers.
Thanking you in advance.

Dear all,
a quick question, is it possible to have both internet explorer 8 and 9 coexist on windows 7 as seperate installations? The reason is that we are using an online service which supports up to internet explorer 8 and have it as a requirement. Is this version of IE still supported with security updates? And is it possible to have both versions of internet explorer on the same machine?
Thank you
I am running IE8 on Windows 7. If I click on a video link of type .WMV, .AVI, .MP4, and a few others, it immidietly launches WMPlayer and passes the link to it. But if I click on a .FLV or .ASF link, first the file gets dowloaded and then WMPlayer is launched. My question is that how these actions are decided and how it can be customized so for example clicking on a .ASF file would launch the player and not download the file.
Thanks in advance,
Marcus
Hello,
I have problem loading a website called www.lefigaro.fr
Everytime I try to access it, the page loads then crashes, IE8 tries to reload it but then says it couldn't connect me to that page.
This has happened since i upgraded to the latest Flash version. I uninstalled flash and tried again but it's still re-acting in the same way.
Is there anything else I can check?
Hi,
we have a aspx application hosted on IIS7. When i log into application via IE8/9 and start browsing different application areas i get the following Java script error:
Error: Object doesn't support property or method 'setValueWindow'
I tried accessing the same application from different machine with IE8/IE9 ( Win7 64 bit) and did not see any issues. Everything was smooth. I followed IE troubleshooting steps mentioned on MS support site, but that did not help. I installed firefox on the machine where i have the Java script issue and the application did work fine on firefox as well.
Can anyone please guide on this issue? Is this a OS/ IE specific issue?
Thanks,
Akshay

I work for the British Library http://bl.uk and I am trying to read and set cookies at the .bl.uk level. This works other browsers but fails in Internet Explorer due to faulty domain name validation.
The faulty validation in IE has other consequences too e.g. I cannot set bl.uk as a trusted site.
Ideally we would like our domain added to this list res://urlmon.dll/ietldlist.xml, but how?
We have recently moved offices from a site where ADSL was unreliable, to a new office in the City of London (that's UK!) where we now have New 64-bit W7 PCs with IE9 - and a leased line (10Mb on a 100Mb bearer). We had hoped that the Internet access trobles would disappear. We have a freshly-installed infrastructure, and our original Small Business Server 2008.
Internet access is now generally lightning fast - hooray! However, sites that usually work sometimes return the 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage' page. Click the 'refresh' button, and the page appears instantly.
I have a 'ping test' utility which, for instance, pinging bbc.co.uk, returns <1ms responses continually, but with random 'spikes' of 5ms once in a while - none of which seems to point at a service provider problem. Their technical people are very helpful, but cannot see any reason for the problem.
Is there an issue on our local network? How do I tell?
